Apparently, Anya has a gene that the rest of the family doesn't have. The dancing gene. I don't know where it came from. No one else in the family has any inclination towards dancing. I tell Ally to shake her butt, and she bends over and looks like she's trying to shake a dingleberry off, or something (Not that that's not good for some laughs occassionally.)
Anya loves it though. For as long as I can remember, she has loved cheap her little boombox (that is so generic that I don't even have a clue as to what google search terms to use to find a link to it). It has been our savior on numerous car trips. This is one of the few toys that can cause her to immediately stop whatever it was she was doing and dance her butt off.
Lately, she has added some instruments to her favorite list. There's the Elmo sing along karaoke book (with the fake microphone). There's the Little People minivan (or is it the SUV? I can't remember) that plays "If you're happy and you know it". There's the Little Poeple Bus that plays the same and also " The wheels on the bus". There's the toy saxophone. And of course, there's me. Singing "Ring around the Rosie". And if she starts spinning and I don't start singing, I'm in trouble. She will stop and grunt at me and then spin as if to say "Can't you see I need some music here?"
Ally was watching a movie the other day. Anya was wandering around the room playing with various things. Rob and I noticed that every time a song came no the TV, Anya would stop and dance. It was like we had our very own pause button for the kid. (Now, if only we could find the mute button... Oh wait, was that outloud?)
I have read many, many posts about Baby loves Disco that have just made me jealous. I live nowhere near a place where there would be enough interest to start one up. I know my kids would absolutey love it. And I know I would too. I hate this state. Yes, I know there's one in Chicago. I don't live in Chicago. So bah! Anyway, I know my kids would at least show up in the outtakes if only we could compete in the contest
So, without further ado, I present:
The butt bop
The spin (complete with saxophone)
And tonight, I will try to get The Airplane one video for your viewing pleasure.
oh, and here's one of Ally for good measure. (She's the one to the right (my right, not the teachers) of the teacher - or, more visibly as the one who fell down while jumping)
*this post was part of the blog blast from Parent Bloggers Network. I want to win some dancing shoes for my boogie girl!

Oh I am falling off my chair here!!!!!!
The Butt Bop is cute and the saxophone amazingly good quality...but the dance class.
hahahahahahahahahahahahaahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
I don't know which bit I like best. The falling over, the forgetting to stand up again or the little girl at the end who loses it and crashes into her neighbour. Thanks for a great laugh on a Saturday morning!!
