Remember when Ally wouldn't ever sleep (I can't even begin to link to all the times I wrote about it)? Wasn't that just great? I certainly don't miss it. Especially since it took her around 2.5 years to start sleeping thruogh the night. Now, I can barely get her to wake up in the morning. I have to turn the lights on in her room and come back in 5 minutes. I tell her it's time to get up, go get her clothes out of the closet, and again, tell her it's time to get up. Depending on the signs of movement (or how late we're running), I might even go find something else to do for a while and try again. As much of a pain in the ass it is, I truly wouldn't trade it. She's so much happier when she get s full night's sleep. Even if she does lay in bed for an hour soetimes talking to herself.
And Anya? It only took her a year to learn to sleep through the night (After I beat Rob into submission and he let me let her cry a little bit) And then we had that regression, and he had that regression, and finally I was given a free hand, and again, she sleeps. In fact, she sleeps so hard, sometimes I even have to wake her up in the morning. You hear that? I wake up first! I love it.
What does this mean for my sleeping? It means I get some most of the time. And because I'm not tired, I get some (heh, heh) more often too. I've been going to sleep around 9:30 (Hey, don't make fun of me. I get up at 5:45). I put the kids to bed at 8:00. I have up to an hour and a half almost every night where I can be an adult. I can talk about adult things, and not be interupted. I can watch a movie without falling asleep halfway through it. I can have a bowl of ice cream before bed and no one else is oging to beg me for some of their own.
So This whole Sleep-In Challenge doesn't really work for me. I am currently getting enough sleep more often than not. But still. A new bed definitely wouldn't be a bad thing. Ours isn't the most comfortable bed in the world. And our sheets are sadly un-remarkable. Yes, this is a contest again. First go to Kirtsy and coment to win some sheets. Then click the image below to register for a sleep number bed. Or pillows. The more people who register using this button the more entries I get. Are you getting enough sleep?
We just moved Anya to a big girl bed. Of course, since there's room for 2, they both wanted to sleep together.
