Last Thursday, I sent the kids to my mom's house. Their day care closed on Friday for a professional development day and I don't have a lot of time to take off and waste, just because the day care decided to randomly close for a day.So I asked Mom, and she agreed and even came and picked the girls up. They were ecstatic. And as far as I can tell, Mom enjoyed herself too. So I couldn't bring myself to tell her that I stayed home anyway. Rob and I had such a good time on Thursday all by ourselves that we decided to do it again and call in sick on Friday. (Sorry Mom. I guess you didn't really have to take them for us. But in my defense, we wouldn't have stayed home if the kids had been there. Does that make it any better?)
The day was so quiet! and unhurried! peaceful even. We grabbed some movies Thursday night (Shattered, War, Good Luck Chuck, and a couple um... others. nudge, nudge, wink, wink) so we could laze the day away on Friday. So it was just good timing that I received a package in the mail that afternoon. A package containing Orville Redenbacher's popcorn! I love eating popcorn when I watch movies, but I usually go with the extra buttery, extra salty (sometimes even with extra butter poured on), heart-clogging kind of popcorn. Considering that I am trying to lose about 20 pounds (14 to go), I haven't been eating a lot of popcorn lately.
But this popcornis different. It's healthy! made from 100% whole grains. That's gotta count for something, right? I got four packages of the Smart Pop (I think it was the Smart Pop) variety. And I was tickled to see it came with it's very own popcorn bowl. How cool? A bowl the perfect size for a bag of popcorn. So we threw a bag of popcorn in the microwave, popped (heh) in Good Luck Chuck (pretty funny actually), and mindlessly munched the popcorn. And you know what? It wasn't half bad. Sure, I missed the excessive amounts of butter, but that's the point. They are excessive. I got to eat one of my favorite snacks, but I didn't have to have all the extra calories. Best of both worlds. Plus I got to use my new dedicated popcorn bowl.
Do you want to get some healthier popcorn to snack on? They're letting me giveaway 2 packages (which also included coupons. I love coupons) just like I received. All you have to do to enter is to leave a comment telling me what's next on your movie renting list. Or for those of you that live in this decade, unlike me, what's next in your Netflix que? Give me some ideas for next time. Or if you want to tell me what to avoid, that's cool too. (The ending of Shattered sucked, btw. I liked it up to the last 5 minutes. Same thing with War, but I fell asleep part of the way through it, so I'm not sure you should take my word for it)
You've got a little over a week to enter. Leave your comment by Wednesday July 2nd at midnight and I'll pick the winners by random number generator. Link to me and let me know, And I'll give you a second entry. Good luck
The next movie we will rent will be Alvin and the Chipmunks :) Thank you for the giveaway!

I think our next movie is going to be The Ultimate Gift. We picked it up last weekend, but haven't had a chance to watch it yet.

Huh. Too late for the popcorn give away. I love popcorn and it is good for you too sans butter. I have an air popcorn maker and we have been known to pop our own to take to the movies. (I do put a bit of butter and salt on then though...)
Latest movie I saw and loved was Freedom Writers.
Prince Caspian was also good eyecandy!!!!!!!
